Pumpkin Puree

Pumpkin Puree

  • Preparation time: 25 minutes
  • Baking time: 45 minutes
  • Steaming time: 10 minutes
  • Total time: 1h 10 minutes or 35 minutes


  •  1 whole pumpkin with skin (when baking it)
  • Or cut into cubes (when steaming it)


In the oven:

  •  Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan-forced)
  • Line a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Cut the pumpkin in half.
  • Place the pumpkin with the cut side on the baking tray.
  • Prick some holes into the skin with the end of a knife.
  • Bake the pumpkin for around 45 minutes (small ones might only take 40 and large ones 50 minutes)
  • Allow to cool.
  • Peel off the skin and cut the flesh into chunks.

Steaming in a pot:

  • Steam the pumpkin cubes for about 10 mintues, or until soft
  • Allow to cool
  • In a food processor, add the pumpkin and blend until smooth (in batches if it it a big pumpkin).
  • Or mash it up with a fork on a plate or in a bowl
